Mickey was born and raised in Southern California. She has lived in New Mexico and Washington State and, for the past several years, in Western Montana.
A lifelong history and nature enthusiast, Mickey has explored many of the locations she uses in her stories. She is also an amateur photographer and enjoys photographing the natural beauty of Montana as well as recording the remnants of life in the frontier.
In 2006, her Sweetwater Saga was honored by the readers by being voted into the Academy of Bards Hall of Fame. Mickey’s first book, Sweetwater, was nominated for the 2006 Ferro-Grumley Award for LGBT Fiction and the Edmund White Award for Debut Fiction.
