A.L. Duncan

AL DuncanI write about powerful women, from ancient cultures to the not-so-distant past, with lives and loves that resonate our own today. The most renowned legends and myths are of those heroes and heroines most in touch with their humanity and their connection with the heavens.

I write about extraordinary women, because every woman is extraordinary.

The fact that I was raised military and having the honor of being a U.S. Marine veteran accounts for much of my writing being influenced by this past. Having an affinity for history, archeology and the classics this tapestry is interwoven with my spiritual walk. I enjoy a natural propensity to follow my Celtic blood as well as walk the Red Road, as it is called. I am active in my American Indian heritage and travel to Eastern Woodland Gatherings, Celebrations, and Powwows, selling my own fine art prints and wood-burned gourd crafts. The philosophies I’ve acquired over the years I attempt to express in my stories. I tend not to take myself as seriously as my writing or my artwork. I feel this quite naturally leaves a balance, and a little breathing room, between awkward ambiguity and my truths. This is either one hell of an oxymoron or the beginning to another story.
