Beyond the comfort of the Orion Arc United Defence force (UD) propaganda and without the relative ease of sterile politics, Talana (Tal) Xian has to formulate her own agenda. By giving up a promising military career with the UD Tal has dared to step outside the shadow of expectation to captain the sleek space faring contract ship the Equuleus. The captain is gloriously flawed in her stubbornness to prove her all female crew can fight the inequity of a universe where membership in the Orion Arc Alliance determines one’s chance of survival and prosperity. However the Equuleus adventure begins to turn into a nightmare when the ship is plagued by anomalous system failures. Sabotage is the only explanation. Devastated by the thought of one of her crew – her family – betraying them, Talana is forced to put the Equuleus in space dock for repairs and relocate the crew to Delphinus a nearby planet so a full investigation can be launched.The Captain’s carefully constructed world is crumbling around her and her only source of strength seems to be coming from the Delphinus Team leader Mia, a strikingly beautiful but tormented local who claims they share a unique telepathic link. Talana knows she can either be trapped in the cycle of vengeance or accept that she has to let go in order to move on. She also has to deal with an ethereal link to a woman who can use their shared consciousness to lift the veil concealing all Talana’s fears and vulnerabilities.
