Synopsis:
Think you can tell a chilling, scary tale in 1,000 words or less?
It’s time to flex those writing skills and get the creative
juices flowing. Send your flash stories my way. Guidelines are below....
PD Publishing presents a bold and exciting new anthology concept.
Horror flash fiction – micro short stories 1,000 words or less.
Also known as “short shorts”, flash fiction has taken
off in popularity. Gay/Lesbian literature has been quick to pick up
on it with an online flash fiction web site.
Chilling Tales of Terror and the Supernatural: IN 1,000
WORDS OR LESS, edited by Patty G. Henderson, will be the first lesbian/gay
horror flash fiction anthology published. Want to be part of it?
Guidelines are simple. The anthology will be open to all LGBT writers
and the theme is self-explanatory. The story will require gay/lesbian
content and characters if pertinent (let’s face it, in 1,000
words or less, relationships may or may not be apparent). We’re
looking for flash fiction that follows the conventions of the popular
genres that chill and terrorize us: Mystery/Horror/ Supernatural/Suspense.
Terror can mean many things to different people. Psychopaths who just
won’t stay dead. Vampires. Ghosts. Headless Horsemen. Manic
Serial Killers. Use your imaginations. The more creative the better.
Experimental is okay but no poetry and no erotica. Tell me a story
in 1,000 words or less. That’s flash fiction. It’s fun
to write and fun to read.
PD Publishing is presenting this anthology in a special way. Each
author will get a ‘block’ of a minimum of 5 flash stories
and not more than 10, depending on the word count. The aim is having
an estimate of 5,000 words or so per author. Each author will have
their own personal bio page which can include previous publication
credits, email address, web page addy or blog location. There will
be a one time moderate advance.
THE BREAKDOWN:
Flash stories that scare and chill. Mystery/Horror/ Supernatural/Terror/Suspense.
Use your imagination. A fresh approach and idea gets noticed and black
humor is welcome.
Word limit is max 1,000 or less per story. Minimum of 5 stories per
author (although we’d like to see more) and max of 10.
$25 Flat Advance per author
